Bhilwara police uncovered a major online cricket betting racket operating in the Nehru Vihar area under Bhimganj police station. Six accused involved in placing bets on cricket matches through an organised online network were arrested during the raid. Authorities seized 49 Android mobile phones, 3 laptops, 2 tablets, betting accessories, and records of financial transactions amounting to crores of rupees.
District Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh Yadav stated that the operation was conducted on January 29. Police raided a house where online betting was being run from three rooms. Large tables in the rooms held laptops and numerous mobile phones connected to power, through which the accused were continuously updating betting odds and accepting wagers. When police arrived, the accused tried to flee but were quickly surrounded and arrested.
Interrogation revealed that the suspects were facilitating online betting on the Australia-Pakistan cricket match. They exploited electronic communication channels to inform the public about betting rates and accept bets, resulting in illegal gains for some and heavy financial losses for others. The use of multiple SIM cards and mobile devices belonging to others established this as an organised crime.
The arrested individuals include Govind, son of Purushottam Tejwani from Subhashnagar; Chandan, son of Jagdish Fatanani from Shastrinagar; Tarun, son of Naresh Kumar Karnani from Shastrinagar; Mulchand, son of Govindram from Shastrinagar; Arif Ansari, son of Mohammad Aslam from Momin Mohalla, Bhimganj; and Kamlesh, son of Dharmraj Kalwani from Nathdwara Sarai.
Bhimganj police have registered a case and begun a thorough investigation. They are now probing other individuals connected with this betting network and tracing the links of online financial transactions.
In a separate action in Jhalawar districtโs Mishroli block, police demolished an illegal structure on grazing land in Amlia Kheda village linked to drug traffickers. The bulldozers cleared the encroachment following the seizure of a major MD drug manufacturing unit, where drugs worth Rs 5 crore and 130 kg of chemical substances were confiscated.
District Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar identified the illegal occupant as Gopalsingh, son of Mangusingh. Three accused remain at large, with a reward of Rs 25,000 announced for each.
