Baramulla, June 29: The Baramulla police in Jammu and Kashmir have categorically rejected false claims circulating on social media. These claims alleged that terrorists attacked a police station in Baramulla, opened fire on government offices throughout the city, and that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah proposed canceling the Shri Amarnath Yatra.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the Baramulla police stated that the allegations of a terrorist attack are entirely false, baseless, and devoid of any truth. There has been no such attack or shooting incident in Baramulla, and the information regarding the cancellation of the Shri Amarnath Yatra is also completely misleading. This fabricated information appears to be a deliberate attempt to instill fear, create panic, disrupt peace, and undermine public trust during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra.
The police have registered an FIR in this matter and have initiated an investigation. They are taking all necessary steps to identify those responsible for creating, publishing, and disseminating this misinformation. Strict legal action will be taken against all involved, including individuals who intentionally share or forward such false information.
The Baramulla police have advised the public not to forward or share unverified information on social media. Spreading fake news not only causes unnecessary panic and disrupts law and order but can also lead to legal consequences.
Citizens are urged to remain calm, exercise restraint, and rely solely on information provided through official government and police channels.
