Dungarpur, December 5 (Daily Kiran) – Leaders of the Bharatiya Adivasi Party (BAP), including 84 MLA Anil Katara and District President Anutosh Rot, held a protest at Haridev Joshi General Hospital, the largest government hospital in the district, on Friday. They accused the parking contractor staff of assaulting patients’ relatives and engaging in hooliganism over parking fees and demanded immediate improvements in the hospital’s management.
During the protest, the leaders inspected the hospital premises and also raised concerns about the consumption of gutkha and paan masala inside the hospital. They called for imposing penalties on those violating rules and urged better cleanliness measures.
The protest was prompted by a recently circulated video on social media showing parking staff allegedly intoxicated and misbehaving with patients’ relatives. In response, BAP officials and workers gathered at the hospital’s main gate, chanting slogans against the parking contractor and demanding action.
Hospital Superintendent Dr. Mahendra Damor arrived at the scene, where the BAP leaders demanded cancellation of the parking contract. Dr. Damor explained that the contract was in accordance with regulations and assured that any violations would be dealt with through fines and other appropriate actions. Following this, Dr. Damor, MLA Anil Katara, and District President Anutosh Rot conducted an inspection of the hospital campus.
During the inspection, the leaders expressed displeasure upon seeing stains of paan and gutkha on walls and staircases. They recommended imposing strict fines on those bringing or consuming intoxicants inside the hospital.
At one point, a sharp exchange took place between Dr. Damor and the district president during a query with a junior doctor in the surgery outpatient department. The situation was later calmed after intervention by BAP state in-charge Digvijay Singh.
