Bangladeshi Woman Arrested in Mumbai for Illegal Entry and Stay

Mumbai ATS has arrested a 30-year-old Bangladeshi woman for residing illegally in the city without valid travel documents. The woman has been identified as Bilkis Begum Sirmiya Akhtar. She was taken into custody during a raid conducted by ATS and Kuff Parade police officials.

According to police officers, ATS received intelligence that a foreign national had entered India illegally and was staying in the Kuff Parade area. Acting on this information, police detained the woman. After verifying her identity through an informant, the team apprehended her.

During questioning, the woman initially gave evasive answers but later admitted to being a Bangladeshi citizen. She confessed that she had been deported by the Crime Branch in August 2025 for illegal stay. Despite deportation, she crossed the border again and was living in a rented room in Kuff Parade without any valid immigration documents.

The police searched her belongings and seized a mobile phone of the Infinix brand, which contained her Bangladeshi national ID number. The device’s stored ID photos have been preserved as digital evidence.

An FIR has been registered at the Kuff Parade police station under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act and BNS for illegal entry, unauthorized stay, and lack of valid travel documents in India.

Authorities are now investigating how she re-entered India after deportation and whether she is connected to any illegal network facilitating cross-border infiltration.
