New Delhi, March 23: Bangladesh cricketers have received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026). Previously, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) mandated government approval for players to compete in the PSL, citing safety concerns.
On Sunday, Aminul Haque, the State Minister for Youth and Sports in Bangladesh, stated that players would not participate in the PSL if there were any security worries. Just hours after this announcement, four Bangladeshi cricketers departed for Pakistan, a move viewed as traveling at their own risk.
Clarifying the situation regarding the cricketers’ travel to Pakistan for the PSL, a senior government official said, “We discussed the situation in Pakistan with the Foreign Ministry, which then contacted our embassy in Islamabad. After receiving security assurances, we granted permission for the cricketers to play in the PSL.”
According to reports, a letter sent by the Bangladesh High Commission to the Bangladeshi government indicated that both Pakistan and Afghanistan announced a ceasefire ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. This ceasefire is expected to remain in effect for some time. Lahore and Karachi have been selected as the venues for the PSL matches, both of which are considered quite safe. The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that the PSL will be held without spectators. Relevant authorities in Pakistan are committed to ensuring the safety of the cricketers.
The letter further recommended that, given the current circumstances, Bangladeshi cricketers can participate in the PSL.
It is noteworthy that the Bangladesh Cricket Board had previously issued NOCs for six players—Mustafizur Rahman, Parvez Hossain Emon, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, and Rishad Hossain—for the tournament running from March 26 to May 3. All players are part of different franchises in the league.
