Bangladesh Condemns Israels Land Laws at OIC Meeting

Dhaka, February 28: Bangladesh has strongly condemned Israel’s recent land-related legislation, which aims to annex occupied Palestinian territories. Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and reiterated support for an independent Palestinian state.

Dr. Rahman participated in the Open-Ended Executive Committee meeting of the OIC at the ministerial level in Jeddah. Addressing the OIC, he explicitly denounced Israeli laws regarding land acquisition, stating they seek to illegally seize Palestinian territories.

He emphasized that this move is intended to alter the legal and demographic nature of Palestinian lands, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif. Expressing deep concern over Israel’s decision to facilitate land purchases in the West Bank and open land registries to public scrutiny, the Bangladeshi minister noted that such actions intimidate and harass Palestinian landowners.

Dr. Rahman stated that these actions are clear violations of international law and undermine the foundation of a just and lasting social order. He asserted that establishing a free and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders is the only sustainable solution to the long-standing crisis.

He rejected the land-related legislation and demanded the protection of Palestinian land rights. Dr. Rahman also called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and urged for unconditional and uninterrupted access for international aid workers and humanitarian assistance to affected men, women, and children in the region.

In a message from Prime Minister Tariq Rahman, he extended Ramadan greetings to the Muslim community, expressing that the newly elected democratic government of Bangladesh is eager to collaborate with OIC member states.

During the meeting, Dr. Rahman engaged in bilateral discussions with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Gambia’s Foreign Minister Serign Modou Njie, Palestine’s Foreign Minister Dr. Waseem Ohanes Vartan Agabekian, Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Musa Kulaklıkaya, and Saudi Arabia’s Vice Foreign Minister Walid A. Al-Khereji.
