Quetta, March 10: In a recent incident in Khuzdar district, Balochistan, two individuals linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, were shot dead along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway. Local media reported that the Baloch armed group is being blamed for the attack.
According to The Balochistan Post, on Monday, fighters in Khuzdar’s Karkh tehsil inspected vehicles passing through a checkpoint. During this process, two suspects associated with the ISI were apprehended. When they attempted to flee, they were shot, and one person was taken into custody. Subsequently, the Pakistani army reportedly moved into the area, leading to significant clashes.
Reports indicate that no group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. This incident occurred just days after the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) infiltrated Karkh city on March 4, destroying government property and police stations.
In a separate incident, The Balochistan Post cited official sources stating that an explosive attack targeted a convoy of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) in the Tezban area of Kech district. The explosion caused considerable damage to the vehicle, injuring two individuals.
Additionally, armed assailants reportedly attacked two Pakistani military checkpoints in the Khan and Shepchur areas of Kech, seizing weapons and other materials before setting the checkpoints ablaze.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) also reported conducting two attacks against the Pakistani army in Quetta and Nasirabad districts on March 8 and 9. In a statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch mentioned that the group targeted a police patrol in Quetta with a hand grenade.
Later, they attacked a force checkpoint in the Mir Hasan area of Nasirabad using small arms and grenade launchers, resulting in the deaths of two Pakistani security personnel and injuring another.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for two attacks on a Pakistani military camp and a security force checkpoint in Kech on March 7 and 8, asserting that the assaults significantly damaged enemy infrastructure.
In a media statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwaharim Baloch claimed that fighters launched multiple grenade attacks on the main gate of the Turbat airport, targeting the Joint Frontier Corps and airport security force checkpoint. He stated, “As a result of this attack, many enemy personnel were killed, and their equipment suffered heavy damage.” He further noted that on March 7, BLF fighters attacked a Pakistani military camp in the Hironk area with heavy and automatic weapons, inflicting substantial losses on the ‘enemies.’
Both groups have characterized their attacks against Pakistani forces as part of an ongoing armed struggle against “occupying forces” in Balochistan.
