Ayush Pandey Becomes First Cricketer from Chhattisgarh to Join India A Team

Raipur, June 16: Ayush Pandey, a 22-year-old batsman, has made history by becoming the first cricketer from Chhattisgarh to be selected for the India ‘A’ team. He will participate in a two-match four-day Test series against Sri Lanka ‘A’ from June 25 to July 5.

Expressing his joy over the selection, Ayush stated in an interview, “This is a moment of immense pride for me, as I have the opportunity to represent my country. This is what I have worked hard for, and I will strive to give my best.”

Playing for India has always been Ayush’s dream. He shared, “Since I started playing cricket, I have been working towards the chance to play for India. My family has always supported me. They never pressured me and encouraged me to practice. I know I have to work even harder. I will always aim to give my 100% whenever I get the opportunity.”

Attributing his success to his family, Ayush said, “I would like to credit my parents and my entire family for my selection in the team. The Cricket Association has provided us with tremendous support. I have received backing since I represented the state in the Under-14 category.”

Reflecting on his childhood memories, he recalled, “My father used to play cricket with me when I was a kid. He would bowl, and I would bat. Since childhood, Sachin Tendulkar has been my idol. My father was also a fan of him, and I used to watch matches with him.”

Born on September 19, 2023, in Patna, Bihar, Ayush has scored 1,430 runs at an average of 47.66 in 19 first-class matches, including four centuries and five half-centuries. Additionally, he has accumulated 268 runs in six List A matches and has played nine T20 matches in his career.
