Ayodhya GST Deputy Commissioner Resigns Amid Corruption Probe, SP Calls It a Drama

Lucknow: The Deputy Commissioner of GST in Ayodhya has tendered his resignation, citing support for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s administration. This development follows recent statements by Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand, which reportedly disturbed the officer. However, Samajwadi Party leader Ravidas Mehrotra has dismissed the resignation as a mere drama aimed at misleading the public.

In a conversation from Lucknow, Ravidas Mehrotra pointed out that the resignation comes amid an ongoing investigation against the GST Deputy Commissioner. Mehrotra referred to a similar resignation by the City Magistrate of Bareilly, who protested against the alleged mistreatment of the Shankaracharya and the government’s repeated statements against him.

Mehrotra criticized the resignation, stating, “The Shankaracharya is a central figure for Hindus, and the BJP government has subjected him to injustice and harsh treatment. He has been staging a peaceful sit-in protest for ten days. The GST Deputy Commissioner’s resignation appears to be a tactic to avoid the probe and divert attention from the real issues.”

Regarding the new UGC regulations, the SP leader accused the BJP government of deliberately diverting public attention from pressing concerns such as inflation, unemployment, corruption, rising crime, and deteriorating health and education services. He claimed that these regulations would not improve education but would increase government control, suppressing the voices of students and teachers.

On the other hand, GST Deputy Commissioner Prashant Kumar Singh stated, “I have resigned in support of the government, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister, the Constitution, and the democracy of this nation. My resignation has been submitted within the framework of employee discipline.”
