Ayodhya: A Symbol of Faith and Cultural Pride, Says Champat Rai

Kanpur, April 12: Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, emphasized that Ayodhya is not just a center of religious faith but also a significant foundation of Hindu traditions and cultural pride. Speaking to a group of 50 doctors from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Kanpur, he described Ayodhya as an ancient city that is a source of liberation, deeply rooted in various religious traditions, not just that of Lord Ram.

During a lecture held at the Krinowsk Hotel, Champat Rai elaborated on the historical and legal aspects of the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute. He stated that this issue is not merely about 1,450 square meters of land; it represents a struggle for the nation’s pride and cultural identity.

He explained that conflicts persisted until 1935, and since 1949, the matter has been in court, focusing on what existed at the site in 1528. The Hindu side asserts that an ancient temple was destroyed on the orders of foreign invaders, while the Muslim side claims it was a mosque.

Champat Rai noted that during the judicial process, a thorough investigation of historical, archaeological, and evidence-based facts was conducted, leading to the recognition of the Hindu community’s faith. He also highlighted that most temples in Ayodhya are linked to Lord Ram, while the land is associated with Guru Nanak Dev, Gautam Buddha, and Jain Tirthankaras, showcasing its multi-dimensional religious heritage.

The doctors listened with keen interest and curiosity during the hour-long lecture. Prior to the talk, the group visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Hanumangarhi, Dashrath Mahal, and Kanak Bhavan, participating in the Aarti of Mother Saryu for a spiritual experience.
