New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : India achieved a remarkable 3-0 clean sweep against Afghanistan in their recent T20 series, showcasing dominant performances throughout. Axar Patel, the left-arm spin all-rounder, was honored as the ‘Impact Player of the Series.’ The award was presented by head physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain.
In the three matches, Axar took four wickets, maintaining a strong presence on the field. His standout performance in the final match saw him claim two wickets for just nine runs in three overs, contributing to India’s 127-run victory.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video on social media featuring Kamlesh Jain, who praised Axar’s contributions. “Congratulations on winning the series. The ‘Impact Player’ is someone who works quietly behind the scenes and during the game. Whether it’s crucial overs in the powerplay or bowling at the end, he’s always ready. He gives his all, whether fielding in the 30-yard circle or on the boundary line. He embodies the principle of putting the team above himself, and that player is none other than Axar Patel,” Jain stated.
Accepting the honor, Axar expressed pride in the team’s collective effort. “We performed excellently in all three matches and executed our plans. I take great pride in our teamwork. If we continue winning, the atmosphere will improve naturally. We’ll carry this momentum into the upcoming Asian Games. If we maintain this environment, I believe we can achieve even greater success. Head coach Gautam Gambhir, who will not be attending the Asian Games, emphasized the need for the players to shift their focus. “Best wishes to everyone for the Asian Games. My message is clear: the series is over, and now we must concentrate on the Asian Games,” he said, as India looks to defend its gold medal status.
