Audience Reactions to Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam Highlight Mixed Reviews

The film Prahaar receives mixed reviews, with praise for Lalit Prabhakars role and suggestions for a different lead actor.

Mumbai, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : The film “Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam,” which centers on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has sparked varied reactions from viewers. Released recently, the movie features Rajkummar Rao as the public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and Lalit Prabhakar portraying terrorist Ajmal Kasab. While some audience members appreciated the storytelling and direction, others raised concerns about the film’s pacing and editing.

One viewer suggested that if Manoj Bajpayee had taken on the role of Ujjwal Nikam, the film’s impact might have been greater. The character of Kasab, played by Lalit Prabhakar, received significant acclaim, with many praising his performance.

In a review, one audience member expressed, “I really liked ‘Prahaar.’ Lalit Prabhakar’s character was my favorite, and I would rate the film three and a half stars.” Another viewer shared a more neutral perspective, stating, “I wouldn’t say the film is good or bad. It’s decent. The direction is excellent, and Rajkummar Rao is a top-notch actor. Lalit Prabhakar has truly excelled as Kasab; he brought an authenticity that felt genuine.”

A third viewer noted, “While there have been many films about 26/11, I found the direction of ‘Prahaar’ to be unique. I appreciate Rajkummar Rao’s work, but I believe the character of Ujjwal Nikam would have been more powerful with Manoj Bajpayee in the role. His voice adds a certain weight to the character.”

Another audience member commented on Wamiqa Gabbi’s performance, stating, “Wamiqa appeared more understated in this film, contrasting with her usually stylish roles. Lalit Prabhakar certainly stole the show as Kasab.”

However, not all feedback was positive. One viewer remarked, “If you want to learn about Ujjwal Nikam’s life and work, you might find this film worthwhile. But I didn’t find it particularly entertaining. Rajkummar Rao’s acting was fine, but I felt the direction lacked coherence. The abrupt scene transitions disrupted the flow of the story.”

This viewer also compared the film to Nana Patekar’s “The Attacks of 26/11,” expressing a preference for the latter. “I think filmmakers should avoid rehashing this topic, as people are already familiar with the events,” they concluded.

Directed by Avinash Arun, “Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam” features a talented cast, including Wamiqa Gabbi, Lalit Prabhakar, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Ashish Vidyarthi.
