Attack on Students for Sitting Together in Chikkamagaluru

Bengaluru, February 27: In Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, two students were reportedly attacked for sitting next to a girl of a different religion on a college bus. The police provided this information on Friday.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday morning when a Muslim girl was seated next to two Hindu boys on the bus of Sahyadri College.

Some Muslim students became upset and questioned Yogesh about sitting next to the Muslim student. They allegedly attacked Yogesh and snatched his mobile phone.

Another student, Jayant, who attempted to intervene and stop the fight, was also reportedly attacked by students named Salid and Rashid.

All the students involved are enrolled at the same Sahyadri College. Yogesh and Jayant were friends of the Muslim girl and were sitting together on the college bus.

Angered by the situation, Salid and Rashid allegedly assaulted Yogesh and Jayant.

When the situation escalated, the college administration informed the Basavanahalli police.

Upon receiving the information, the Basavanahalli police arrived at the scene and took both the accused and the victims to the station for questioning. The police are currently investigating the matter.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has warned that strict action will be taken against individuals who take the law into their own hands, regardless of their affiliations.

The Chief Minister has held senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police, accountable for uncontrolled crime and organized illegal activities in their jurisdictions.

Siddaramaiah has adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards moral policing and announced that such activities will not be tolerated in the state.
