New Delhi, August 11: Devendra Yadav, the President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, criticized the ruling party during the assembly session. He also paid tribute to senior party leaders. Yadav stated that the first day of the assembly was wasted in internal disputes, with no discussions on crucial issues facing the capital.
Speaking to reporters, he remarked, “Many important topics needed to be addressed in this assembly session. Unfortunately, the first day was consumed by their infighting. I do not have high hopes for the second and third days either.”
Yadav referenced a recent student protest in the capital, emphasizing that there was no discussion on this matter in the assembly. He stated, “Recently, there was a significant student protest in the capital. This issue should have been discussed in the assembly. We need to address who is responsible for these circumstances and how they arose.”
He also questioned the Delhi government’s scheme of providing ₹2,500 to women. Yadav said, “Women have repeatedly raised this issue, and forms are being filled out. I recall that during the Delhi elections, the BJP promised that ₹2,500 would be deposited into every woman’s account before Raksha Bandhan. A year has passed, forms are being filled, and committees are being formed, but it appears that the way this scheme was introduced may not benefit women in Delhi as they deserve.”
The Congress leader accused the government of failing to provide funds on time as promised, complicating the process to the point where beneficiaries are facing difficulties.
On another note, Devendra Yadav shared information about a tribute program for former party presidents. He expressed happiness that the Pradesh Congress Committee has initiated a program to honor its former presidents on their death anniversaries and birthdays.
On Tuesday, the death anniversary of Chaudhary Brahm Prakash and the birthday of Chaudhary Deep Chand Bandhu were commemorated. All Congress workers united to pay tribute to both leaders.
Yadav concluded, “We remembered their contributions and pledged to follow the path they laid out. Brahm Prakash was the first Chief Minister, while under Deep Chand Bandhu’s leadership, Congress reached new heights, significantly improving the party’s performance.”
