Guwahati, July 15: On the occasion of ‘World Youth Skills Day’, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that a skilled and empowered youth is the foundation for a ‘Developed Assam’ and ‘Developed India’. He underscored the state’s initiatives to strengthen skill education and industry-linked training.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister noted that the youth of Assam are turning their ambitions into success and playing a crucial role in the state’s progress. He expressed appreciation for the young individuals who are advancing the narrative of Assam’s development.
The Chief Minister stated that the state government is focused on creating a robust ecosystem that equips youth with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive in a rapidly changing global economy.
According to him, skill education has been initiated in over 1,700 schools across Assam. Additionally, there is an expansion of industry-linked training programs aimed at enhancing employability and bridging the gap between education and job market needs.
Sarma highlighted the role of Assam Skill University and other skill development institutions in preparing the state’s youth for emerging opportunities across various sectors. He remarked, “Through skill education in over 1,700 schools and industry-linked training programs, Assam is building a strong ecosystem that equips youth with essential skills and knowledge for success in a changing world.”
The Chief Minister reiterated that investing in skill development is one of the state government’s top priorities, as it aims to prepare a workforce ready for the future and contribute to economic growth and industrial expansion.
In recent years, the state has increased its focus on vocational education, entrepreneurship, and industry partnerships to create more job opportunities for youth. Many government initiatives aim to tailor skill development programs to meet the needs of emerging industries.
