Assams BJP Triumphs: A New Era of Development Under Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, May 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a remarkable victory in the Assam Assembly elections. The party secured 82 out of 126 seats, paving the way for another NDA government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attributed this success to the people of Assam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that a new wave of development is on the horizon for the state. In an interview, he expressed gratitude to the citizens, saying, “This is a significant victory. I thank the people of Assam for their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We are eager to initiate further development projects. Assam will witness a surge in progress.”

Regarding the BJP’s win in West Bengal, Sarma described it as a “victory for the nation.” He emphasized, “The BJP’s success will play a crucial role in securing Eastern and Northeastern India. I have said it before and will reiterate: the BJP has not won Bengal; the nation has won Bengal.”

When asked about the priorities of the incoming BJP government, Sarma requested patience, promising to provide updates as the government forms.

On the issue of illegal immigration from Bangladesh, the Chief Minister took a firm stance, asserting, “This campaign will continue. Our fight for identity will persist.” He mentioned that the central government has already announced plans for border fencing, which will commence soon. Sarma also took a jab at the Congress party, stating, “There is no possibility of Congress returning, nor should they.”

Commenting on Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera’s anticipatory bail, Sarma remarked, “They have received bail, but not freedom from the case. The legal proceedings will continue against them.” He humorously added, “After winning the election, we celebrated with sweets. Next time, I’ll invite everyone for an even bigger celebration.”

According to the election results, the BJP won 82 seats, while the main opposition, Congress, managed only 19 seats. The BOPF and AGP secured 10 seats collectively.
