Abhishek Manu Singhvi Responds to Judges Comments on Voter List Issues
Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi supports judges remarks on voter rights and emphasizes the importance of constitutional guardianship.

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi has reacted to questions raised by Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan and former Justice Nariman regarding the removal of names from voter lists. He also addressed concerns over legal action against Gyanesh Kumar during a recent press interaction in New Delhi.
Singhvi praised Justice Nariman, a retired Supreme Court judge, noting his esteemed reputation as a senior lawyer. “He has always been seen as impartial. His comments reflect the voice of the common man. What could be more significant for an ordinary citizen than having their vote removed? The right to vote is the most fundamental human right in a republic. Therefore, he has spoken the truth, and I welcome his remarks,” Singhvi stated.
He further supported Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan’s comments made at a student gathering, asserting that there was no fault in what he said. “What could be more critical for constitutional guardians than this? Judges are indeed the protectors of the Constitution. He spoke the truth, and I hope that such independent voices will lead to reform,” Singhvi added.
Addressing his earlier comments about Gyanesh Kumar, Singhvi clarified, “The entire interview has been published. I mentioned that many individuals approach the law without cause, even when they are aware of its limitations, sometimes misrepresenting or deliberately legitimizing issues. Not every problem can be resolved in court. My point is simply that one should approach the law with careful consideration.”
