Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Criticizes Congress, Promotes Infrastructure Development

Guwahati, March 25: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on the Congress party on Wednesday. He stated that Congress could form a government in Pakistan or Bangladesh, but not in Assam.

During a press conference, Sarma announced a significant initiative to boost infrastructure, including a proposed six-lane expressway connecting Guwahati and Nagaon.

He claimed that Congress has no political future in India. Sarma indirectly referred to Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged connections with Pakistan, asserting, “My wife has no ties to Pakistan, and there is no question of my joining Congress.”

Sarma emphasized, “Congress may establish a government in Pakistan and Bangladesh, but they will never succeed in Assam.”

Targeting the opposition, Sarma accused Congress leaders of engaging in irresponsible politics. He mentioned that Congress leaders involved in rhino poaching would no longer dare to show their faces in Nagaon. “People are aware of such activities, and those responsible will face consequences,” he added.

The Chief Minister reiterated the plan for a six-lane expressway between Guwahati and Nagaon, aimed at improving connectivity and promoting economic growth.

“We are planning to build a modern expressway that will significantly reduce travel time and enhance infrastructure,” he stated.

Sarma highlighted that the BJP-led state government is committed to development and good governance, contrasting it with Congress’s “politics of negativity.”

As the upcoming assembly elections approach, Sarma’s remarks indicate an intensifying political struggle in Assam, with the BJP ramping up its attacks on the opposition while showcasing its development agenda.
