Mumbai, April 12: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep sorrow over the passing of legendary singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Asha Bhosle. He stated that the demise of India’s nightingale is an irreplaceable loss for music and the world. Bhosle lent her voice to thousands of films and music albums, and her melodies will resonate forever.

On Sunday, Rajnath Singh took to the social media platform X to share his grief, saying, “The passing of Asha Bhosle ji is extremely painful for me. As a playback singer, she contributed her voice to thousands of films and music albums. Generations of Indians have listened to and hummed her songs. Her sweet melodies will always echo. Asha Bhosle ji’s departure is an irreplaceable loss for music and the arts. My condolences to her family and fans during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke to the media about his close relationship with Bhosle over the years. He remarked, “Asha Tai sang numerous songs in many languages. Just as Lata didi brought glory to our country with her singing, Asha Tai also elevated India’s name. Her passing is a significant shock for her family.”

Union Minister Piyush Goyal also expressed his condolences on X, stating, “The sweet voice and unique singing of Asha Bhosle ji elevated Indian music to new heights for decades. Her voice is not just a blend of melodies but an unspoken connection of emotions that words cannot capture. This bond will live on in every heart. Her songs will continue to resonate for generations to come. This moment is an extremely emotional and irreplaceable loss for her family, all those connected to the arts, and millions of fans. I express my deepest sympathies to everyone. May Maa Saraswati grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this sorrow.”

Union Minister Jitendra Singh shared his sadness over Bhosle’s passing in a post on X, saying, “I am very saddened by the demise of Asha Bhosle ji. She was an iconic voice that we grew up listening to from our early childhood. She is an immortal figure; she has not gone anywhere. She will always be around us, reminding us that she is here, ‘Where will you go? This sight will return again.'”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her sorrow over Bhosle’s death, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of the great musical talent Asha Bhosle. She was an inspiring and mesmerizing singer who ruled our hearts for generations. She sang many Bengali songs and is immensely popular in Bengal as well. In 2018, we honored her with our highest civilian award, the Bangabibhushan. My heartfelt condolences to her family, her colleagues, and her millions of fans worldwide.”

Renowned singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday at the age of 92 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news. He mentioned that people can pay their respects at Casa Grande in Lower Parel on Monday morning at 11 AM. Her last rites will be conducted at Shivaji Park at 4 PM.
