Yash Discusses the Universal Appeal of Ramayana: This Story Transcends Boundaries and Cultures

Mumbai, April 15: The epic ‘Ramayana’ has inspired numerous films, television series, and theatrical presentations over the years. Each era and generation has interpreted this timeless tale through their unique perspectives, emotions, and technical capabilities.

In this context, Nitesh Tiwari is set to bring a new adaptation of ‘Ramayana’ to the screen. The film will feature Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash in the pivotal role of Ravana. Recently, Kannada superstar Yash spoke about the film at Cinema Con 2026, emphasizing the universal appeal of the ‘Ramayana’.

Yash stated, “The ‘Ramayana’ contains an element that stays with you for a long time. This is why the story has endured for so many years. It resonates beyond borders and transcends cultures, embedding itself in the hearts of people. There is something very universal about it.”

He added, “With today’s modern technology, experiencing this on the big screen will provide audiences with an even better experience. They will truly be able to absorb it and enjoy it in the way that the original intent of the story was meant to be appreciated.”

The film is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, VFX studio DNEG, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Ravi Dubey will also play significant roles. Additionally, prominent names like Lara Dutta and Amitabh Bachchan are part of the cast. This film will be released in two parts, showcasing the mythological narrative of the ‘Ramayana’ on a grand scale.

The music for the film is being composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, marking a cross-industry collaboration between the two renowned musicians. Furthermore, Hollywood’s leading stunt directors, Terry Notary and Guy Norris, have choreographed the battles between gods and demons for the film.
