Mumbai, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : In Mumbai, Arvind Sawant, a Member of Parliament from the Shiv Sena (UBT), has responded to Maharashtra Minister Pratap Sarnaik’s recent comments regarding Uddhav Thackeray’s approach to Hindutva. Sawant asserted that true Hindutva is based on unity rather than hatred, suggesting that the ruling parties should reflect on their own actions.
Sarnaik claimed that the public abandoned Thackeray because he strayed from Hindutva principles. In his rebuttal, Sawant questioned the rationale behind the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forming alliances with leaders like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Nitish Kumar, and Chandrababu Naidu. “Ask them why they formed a government in Jammu and Kashmir with Sayeed. Did Nitish Kumar embrace Hindutva? They should first look in the mirror before casting aspersions on others,” he stated.
Sawant further emphasized that their version of Hindutva is not rooted in animosity but in a spirit of togetherness. He recalled a recent Janmashtami celebration that included participation from both Hindu and Muslim youths, highlighting the importance of unity. “We are all Hindus; who decides that one is not a Hindu without a tilak?” he asked.
Additionally, he addressed Sarnaik’s comments regarding the necessity of the Marathi language, advising him to extend that advice to his own workers who have been involved in violent incidents at hospitals. “Before giving advice to others, they should correct themselves first,” Sawant concluded.
