Itanagar, August 9: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, K.T. Parnaiik, emphasized the state’s pivotal role as a guardian of India’s eastern border on Sunday. He praised the local populace for their unwavering patriotism and dedication to preserving the nation’s unity and integrity.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, alongside the Governor and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, launched the statewide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga‘ campaign. Khandu stated that this initiative transcends mere flag-hoisting ceremonies.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is a nationwide effort aimed at deepening patriotism, strengthening national unity, and fostering a strong connection with the values that define India’s identity.
During the event, the Governor presented the national flag to the youth and sang the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ alongside participants.
Governor Parnaiik urged all citizens to proudly hoist the national flag and actively participate in this campaign. He described it as a people’s movement that rekindles the spirit of patriotism and strengthens emotional unity.
He noted that as India progresses towards the goal of a ‘developed India,’ patriotism should manifest not only in words but also through responsible actions. These actions include respecting the Constitution, safeguarding public property, caring for the environment, and dedicating service to society and the nation.
Reciting a poem he wrote about the patriotism of Arunachal Pradesh’s people, the Governor highlighted the profound significance of the tricolor flag. He stated that it symbolizes India’s unity, sacrifice, aspirations, and democratic values.
He explained that the saffron color represents courage and selfless service, the white color signifies peace, harmony, and truth, while the green color symbolizes prosperity and harmony with nature. The Ashoka Chakra inspires continuous progress along the path of justice and righteousness.
Reflecting on the historical significance of August 9, Governor Parnaiik recalled that on this day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi launched the ‘Quit India Movement‘ with the slogan ‘Do or Die,’ inspiring millions of Indians to unite against colonial rule.
He remarked that during the freedom struggle, the national flag emerged as a powerful symbol of freedom, strength, and a collective national purpose.
Governor Parnaiik encouraged schools, colleges, youth organizations, self-help groups, and community institutions to conduct activities that promote patriotism, national awareness, and civic responsibility.
