Arunachal Pradesh Announces 2% Hike in DA and DR for Government Employees and Pensioners

Itanagar, May 6: The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a 2% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for 109,725 government employees and pensioners.

An official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated that this decision, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, reaffirms the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its employees. The increase in DA applies to serving employees, while the DR increase benefits pensioners and family pensioners.

Additionally, the basic salary and pension rate will rise from 58% to 60%, effective January 1, 2026.

This amendment aligns with the central government’s decision communicated through office memorandums issued on April 22 and April 24, 2026, regarding DA and DR increases for central government employees and pensioners.

The increased DA will apply to all All India Service officers serving in Arunachal Pradesh, central government employees on deputation to the state government, and all regular state government employees.

Similarly, the enhanced DR will benefit all pensioners and family pensioners. Approximately 69,248 regular employees and 40,477 pensioners across the state will benefit from this increase.

According to the official, the estimated annual financial burden due to this increase is ₹100.54 crores, which includes ₹83.31 crores for DA and ₹17.24 crores for DR.

The arrears for the period from January to April will be paid in cash. The estimated financial burden for the arrears is ₹33.51 crores. Starting May 2026, the increased DA and DR will be included in monthly salaries and pensions.

Including the arrears, the total estimated financial burden is ₹117.30 crores. Congratulating the government employees, Chief Minister Khandu expressed hope that they would contribute their best efforts to welfare initiatives, reaching out to the last person in line.
