Itanagar, March 20: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General (Retired) K.T. Parnaik, stated on Thursday that private educational institutions must strictly adhere to established infrastructure standards to ensure quality education. He emphasized the need for continuous maintenance of essential facilities.
The Governor made these remarks during a meeting with Tsering Naksang, the Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission, at the Lok Bhawan in Itanagar.
Highlighting the importance of robust academic regulation, the Governor advised the commission to closely monitor the admission process to ensure transparency and merit-based selection. He also called for stringent oversight of examination and research standards to maintain institutional credibility and academic integrity.
He reiterated that private institutions must comply with infrastructure regulations and consistently maintain the necessary facilities for teaching.
Expressing concern over maintaining academic quality, the Governor recommended that the commission implement strict quality control measures in line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines and state government regulations.
He stated that the commission should regularly review the operations of institutions, ensure compliance with regulations, and hold them accountable for maintaining quality education. The Governor also mentioned that institutions that repeatedly fail to meet standards should not hesitate to face actions such as suspension of recognition or closure.
He noted that such rigorous monitoring would play a crucial role in strengthening the future of higher education in the state and providing students with competitive and reliable education at the national level.
During the meeting, members of the APPER Commission informed the Governor about several pending issues at the departmental level. The Governor assured them that these matters would be raised with the relevant authorities and necessary discussions for prompt resolution would take place.
Commission members Limo Aete, Zoram Aniya, and Secretary A.K. Tripathi were also present, providing updates on the commission’s activities and initiatives.
Additionally, the Governor expressed condolences over the passing of former legislator Talong Taggu, stating that the state has lost one of its early leaders who played a significant role in strengthening the democratic foundations of Arunachal Pradesh.
