Arrest Warrants Issued for Jaipur Development Authority Officials

Jaipur, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The District Consumer Commission-2 in Jaipur has issued arrest warrants for Siddharth Mahajan, the Commissioner of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), and Surya Kant Sharma, the Deputy Commissioner of Zone-9. The warrants stem from a long-standing case concerning plot allocations under the JDA’s ‘Nilay Kunj Housing Scheme.’

During a hearing related to a contempt petition filed by complainant Krishna, the Commission instructed the Jaipur Police Commissioner to ensure the arrest of both officials. They are required to appear before the Commission on October 12.

The dispute began when Krishna applied for a plot under the Nilay Kunj Housing Scheme and was allocated plot number 454 through a lottery. However, he did not receive possession of the plot within the stipulated time frame.

After waiting nearly a year, Krishna sought relief from the District Consumer Commission. The case dragged on for about four years, culminating in a 2016 order directing the JDA to issue a possession letter for the plot.

Despite the Commission’s ruling, Krishna claims the JDA failed to comply. In 2020, he filed a contempt petition against the JDA. He further alleged that instead of granting him plot number 454, the JDA allocated it to another individual. Subsequently, he was offered plot number 194, which was also given to someone else.

Eventually, Krishna received plot number 7 in the Nilay Kunj Scheme, Phase-2, for which he paid the full amount. However, he accused the JDA of altering the original layout of the plot, reducing its frontage and preventing him from obtaining full possession.

According to Krishna, the JDA challenged the District Consumer Commission’s 2016 order at both the State and National Consumer Commissions, ultimately escalating the matter to the Supreme Court. He stated that the JDA received no relief at any level, and the original order remained unfulfilled.

In a recent hearing regarding the contempt petition, the District Consumer Commission-2 issued arrest warrants for Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan and Deputy Commissioner Surya Kant Sharma. The Commission has mandated that both officials be arrested and presented on October 12.
