Raipur, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Chhattisgarh Congress President Deepak Baij has sharply criticized the central government’s handling of security measures and traffic restrictions in Delhi, particularly in light of recent protests by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP). He reported that more than 250 trains heading to Delhi have been canceled and numerous metro stations have been shut down, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an emergency.
Baij described the situation as turning large parts of the capital into a fortress, with over 100,000 police officers deployed. He noted that railway and metro stations are closed, and checks are being conducted on passenger buses, ambulances, and private vehicles. He also mentioned that hotels, roadside eateries, and restaurants have been forced to shut down, with restrictions imposed on roads leading into Delhi.
Despite these stringent measures, Baij stated that youth from various states continue to converge on Delhi. He emphasized that the ongoing movement against alleged vote theft will not cease until Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ally Gyanesh Kumar resign. He warned that the protest could escalate further in the future. Baij referred to Rahul Gandhi as the voice of the nation, asserting that he is fighting to protect people’s rights.
Additionally, Baij commented on the allegations of vote theft against the INDIA coalition and their recent meeting with President Droupadi Murmu. He revealed that leaders from the coalition, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, discussed various issues during their meeting with the President. Baij noted that the President listened attentively and assured them of action, describing the interaction as a positive step for the defense of democracy. He cautioned that the struggle might intensify, placing the responsibility on the central government.
On the topic of Rahul Gandhi’s planned visit to Chhattisgarh, Baij indicated that meetings have already been held regarding the protection of water, forests, land, and mineral resources in Bastar, as well as issues affecting those impacted by the Bodhghat project. He expressed the party’s desire for Gandhi to visit soon and engage with affected communities. Plans for a major event to highlight the concerns of tribal and affected families will be organized once Gandhi confirms his schedule.
