Sheikhpura, June 6: In a shocking incident in Sheikhpura district, armed robbers brazenly stole jewelry valued between ₹10 to ₹12 lakhs from a gold trader on Friday evening. The criminals managed to escape the scene after the robbery.
According to reports, Abhishek Verma, the owner of a gold and silver shop located in Lakshmi Market at the Ariyari block headquarters, was returning home on his motorcycle along VIP Road in Sheikhpura after closing his shop for the day.
While traveling on the Sheikhpura-Mahuli main road, near a closed chips mixing plant in the Navin Nagar Kakrar area of the Ariyari police station, six armed assailants arrived on two motorcycles. They brandished a pistol to stop Verma and snatched a bag filled with jewelry before fleeing towards Sheikhpura.
Verma stated that he was carrying approximately 60 grams of gold and around 3 kilograms of silver jewelry in the bag. The robbery was executed by a group of five to six armed men who approached him from behind on separate motorcycles.
He also mentioned that his shop had been targeted for theft three years ago. Upon receiving the report of the incident, police officials, including Ariyari police station chief Akhilesh Singh, sub-inspector Amit Kumar, and DIU team leader Avadhesh Kumar, arrived at the scene and initiated a manhunt for the criminals.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar confirmed that an investigation is underway. He indicated that significant leads have emerged during the inquiry and expressed confidence that the case will be solved soon. The police are conducting extensive vehicle checks in various locations across the area and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage for further clues.
