New Delhi, August 31: A devastating explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, causing widespread panic. The incident took place near the Manouri market, close to the Kaushambi-Prayagraj border, where a sudden fire ignited a series of powerful blasts. The explosions were so intense that they damaged several nearby homes and led to reports of three fatalities and five injuries.
Upon receiving news of the incident, District Magistrate Vipin Pal arrived at the scene to oversee rescue and relief operations. He instructed officials to expedite the search for individuals trapped under the debris and ensure that the injured receive immediate medical attention. The explosion was reported around 10:40 AM, prompting a swift response from fire teams and the dispatch of six to eight ambulances to the site.
Police and administrative teams also arrived to assist in the rescue efforts. The District Magistrate confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing, with three confirmed deaths and approximately five individuals injured. The injured were transported to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj for treatment. Authorities are continuing to search for anyone who may be trapped under the rubble.
During the rescue, any individuals found are being promptly taken to nearby hospitals for care. The District Magistrate noted that this is preliminary information regarding the number of casualties and injuries. Further details will be provided once the relief operations are complete. Senior police and administrative officials from both Kaushambi and Prayagraj have reached the site, where police forces have been deployed.
Initial reports suggest that the firecracker factory was operating from a house located a short distance from the residential area. At the time of the explosion, several people were reportedly inside the factory. Witnesses described seeing smoke rising from the building before the explosions began, with the sound echoing for miles.
The intensity of the blasts caused significant damage to surrounding homes, shattering windows and leaving debris scattered across the area. However, the administration has not yet confirmed the final number of collapsed structures, fatalities, or serious injuries. A large crowd of locals gathered at the scene, and due to the ongoing explosions, police restricted access to the area. Efforts to clear the debris are ongoing with the assistance of rescue teams.
