Arizona Cardinals Eye Local Talent Max Iheanachor in 2026 NFL Draft

Phoenix, April 15: The Arizona Cardinals are focusing on offensive tackle prospects as they prepare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Many analysts predict that the team will either select a tackle with their third overall pick or trade down to acquire one. A promising scenario would see them secure a local talent.

According to Justin Melo from SI.com, the Cardinals are well-suited for Arizona State tackle Max Iheanachor.

The Cardinals have already brought Iheanachor in for a pre-draft visit. While they are expected to select a defensive player with their No. 3 pick, candidates like Arvell Reese, David Bailey, and Sonny Styles are on their radar. An offensive tackle such as Iheanachor could be a strategic choice for their second-round pick.

The team is looking to fill the right tackle position, previously held by Jonah Williams. They have signed experienced players like Elijah Wilkinson and Oli Udoh as backup options. However, the ideal scenario would involve drafting a high-potential player like Iheanachor with the 35th pick.

Though selecting a tackle early in the first round is a possibility, the Cardinals’ primary needs for 2026 remain a pass rusher and a right tackle. If they can secure a pass rusher like Reese or Bailey in Round 1, along with Iheanachor in Round 2, they would effectively gain two rookie starters. The key question is whether Iheanachor will still be available by the time the Cardinals make their second-round selection.
