Apple Strengthens Hold in India with 24% Rise in iPhone Demand in 2025

New Delhi: Apple’s presence in India saw significant growth in 2025, with iPhone shipments increasing by 24 percent compared to 2024. This surge reflects a strong and growing demand for Apple products across the country.

According to data from Cyber Media Research (CMR), iPhone sales in 2025 outpaced iPad shipments, which grew by a modest 2 percent. Prabhu Ram, Vice President of CMR’s Industry Research Group, noted that Apple’s performance indicates sustained consumer interest in its premium products.

He added that the launch of new iPad models helped maintain steady iPad sales, strengthening Apple’s position in both premium and work-related devices.

iPhone 16 Series Leads Sales in 2025

The iPhone 16 series emerged as the best-selling model of the year, accounting for 57 percent of total iPhone shipments. It was followed by the iPhone 15 series with a 24 percent share, while the newly introduced iPhone 17 series captured 10 percent of the market. Additionally, the iPhone 16E contributed 6 percent to overall sales.

Despite this overall growth, the fourth quarter of 2025 saw a slight 3 percent decline in iPhone shipments compared to the same period in the previous year. In contrast, iPad shipments surged dramatically by 95 percent during the same quarter, indicating a sharp rise in demand towards the year-end.

Strong Performance of iPhone and iPad Models in Q4

In the last quarter, the iPhone 16 series maintained a dominant 50 percent market share, reaffirming its leadership. The iPhone 17 series captured 24 percent, while the iPhone 15 series held 17 percent. The remaining 8 percent belonged to the iPhone 16E.

Regarding iPads, the iPad 11 series led with a 68 percent share throughout 2025, which increased to 76 percent in the fourth quarter. The iPad Air 2025 series held 21 percent of the market for the full year but dropped to 9 percent in the last quarter. Meanwhile, the iPad Pro 2024 and 2025 series had smaller shares, with the iPad Pro 2025 series accounting for 13 percent in the final quarter.

These figures highlight Apple’s expanding footprint in India’s premium device segment, driven by strong consumer preference and new product launches.
