Patna, March 31: The Patna High Court granted anticipatory bail on Tuesday to Dharmveer Singh and Karmveer Singh, nephews of Anant Singh, in the murder case of Dularchand Yadav.
Justice Prabhat Kumar Singh approved the bail after hearing arguments from both sides. Lawyer Naresh Dixit represented the accused, presenting their case in court, while Additional Public Prosecutor Satyendra Singh argued on behalf of the state government. After considering the submissions, the court granted anticipatory bail to the accused, who had been absconding since the incident.
This case is linked to the murder of Dularchand Yadav, a supporter of a candidate from the Jan Suraj Party during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The incident occurred on October 30, 2025, in Basawan Chak village, located in the Patna district’s Barh subdivision.
Violent clashes erupted between supporters of JDU candidate Anant Singh and Jan Suraj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi, resulting in Yadav’s death. Dharmveer Singh and Karmveer Singh are accused of forcibly pulling Yadav out of his vehicle during the altercation. The victim’s family alleges that the accused and their associates deliberately ran over him and shot him.
According to the post-mortem report, Yadav’s death was not caused by gunfire but was attributed to cardio-respiratory failure. Injuries on his body were consistent with those sustained from being hit by a heavy vehicle. Anant Singh was arrested in connection with this case and was held at Beur Central Jail in Patna.
Initially, the MP-MLA court had denied Anant Singh’s bail application. However, the Patna High Court granted him bail on March 19, leading to his release from jail on March 23.
