According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a new premium laptop, tentatively named the MacBook Ultra. This model is expected to sit above the current MacBook Pro, with a potential launch in early 2027. If realized, this could be one of the most significant updates to the lineup in years.
The display is anticipated to be a major enhancement. The MacBook Ultra is rumored to be the first in the series to adopt OLED technology, replacing the Mini LED panels found in current Pro models. This switch is expected to deliver better contrast, deeper blacks, and overall improved visuals. Additionally, OLED panels are thinner, which could allow Apple to reduce the device’s thickness.
