Seoul, August 6: India’s Anmol Kharb faced an early exit at the Korea Masters. In a challenging pre-quarterfinal match against Vietnam’s Olympian Vu Thi Trang, Anmol lost with scores of 23-21, 15-21, 21-18. This defeat marked the end of her journey in the tournament.
Anmol maintained control for most of the first game but squandered four game points, allowing Vu Thi Trang to seize an early lead. She made a strong comeback in the second game, leveraging an 11-9 advantage at the interval to push the match to a decisive third game.
In the final game, however, Anmol fell behind 19-9 and could not recover, leading to Vu Thi Trang’s victory.
On a brighter note, after winning her title at the Taipei Open, Tanvi Sharma continued her impressive form by defeating compatriot Shreyanshi Valiashitti with scores of 21-16, 17-21, 21-13.
After trailing 11-7 in the first game, Tanvi regained control and secured the game. Shreyanshi fought back in the second game, taking an 11-6 lead at the interval and winning it to force a deciding game.
In the final game, Tanvi maintained her lead from the start, reaching 11-9 at the interval, and secured her victory after losing just four more points in a match that lasted 57 minutes.
Additionally, Ashmita Chaliha and Rakshita Ramraj joined Tanvi Sharma in the women’s singles quarter-finals. Ashmita defeated Kim Min-ji with a score of 21-17, 21-6, while Rakshita overcame Japan’s Manami Suizu 22-20, 21-10. Unfortunately, fifth seed Isharani Barua and Mansi Singh’s campaigns ended at the Korea Masters. Isharani lost to Korea’s Kim Min-sun 17-21, 21-18, 21-19, while Mansi faced defeat against China’s fourth seed Han Qianxi with scores of 21-12, 14-21, 21-17.
