Mumbai, July 18: Bollywood veteran Anil Kapoor has expressed his unwavering support for films that feature strong and influential female characters at their core. He believes that women’s powerful voices and significant roles deserve more representation in cinema.
In a recent Instagram post discussing his new film “Alpha,” Kapoor shared that his belief extends beyond films, influenced by the strong women in his personal life.
He stated, “I have always believed that we need films with strong female leads and their voices. Whether it was acting in films like ‘Judai’ and ‘Lamhe’ years ago or producing movies like ‘Khoobsurat,’ ‘Veere Di Wedding,’ and ‘Crew,’ I have consistently supported female characters that are central to the story.”
Kapoor credited his daughters, Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, along with his wife, as inspirations for his perspective. He remarked, “Perhaps it’s because I am the father of two incredibly strong daughters and the husband of a powerful woman. Or maybe it’s because women’s energy is changing the world, and that is the reality of life.”
He expressed his joy in collaborating with Aditya Chopra, Shiv, Bobby, Alia, Sharvari, and the entire YRF team, who also believe in creating stories centered around women. This mindset is what makes films like “Alpha” possible.
“Alpha” is the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe, featuring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in lead roles. The film tells the story of a highly trained female killer, transformed into a super-soldier by a rogue commander. Upon discovering a shocking truth about her family and childhood, she embarks on a mission of revenge alongside her long-lost sister.
