
Amaravati, March 4: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Wednesday that the coalition government has restored investor confidence and revitalized the ‘Brand Andhra’.
While addressing the Assembly, the Chief Minister highlighted the significant damage to the Andhra Pradesh brand from 2019 to 2024. According to a report by the Reserve Bank of India, 913 companies shut down during the period from 2019-20 to 2023-24.
He claimed that under the current coalition government, Andhra Pradesh has become a rapidly progressing destination for doing business. With 26 new policies in place, approvals are being expedited.
The tourism sector has been granted industrial status, and industrial parks are being established in all 175 electoral constituencies. The government has also released ₹210 crores in industrial incentives. Over the past 20 months, 628,000 jobs have been created in the state, including 248,000 in MSMEs, 146,000 through skill development initiatives, 95,000 in various industries, and 64,000 in the food processing sector. Additionally, 30,500 government jobs have been provided through mega DSCs, police constable recruitment, and other government appointments.
The Chief Minister reported that the recent Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam attracted investments worth ₹13.25 lakh crores, which is expected to generate 1.6 million jobs.
He informed the assembly that the government is working towards balanced regional development, focusing on Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati as economic regions. Andhra Pradesh aims to achieve a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047. Visakhapatnam is set to emerge as a hub for Information Technology and Global Capability Centers (GCCs), with substantial investments already flowing into the city.
To ensure the sustainability of these investments, the government has decided to create an escrow account for industrial incentives.
India’s first quantum computer valley has been launched in Amaravati, positioning it as a destination for quantum computing, similar to Silicon Valley in the U.S.
Tirupati will be developed as a hub for space, electronics, and defense industries.
The Chief Minister announced a universal health policy for all citizens, providing free medical services up to ₹250,000. Efforts are underway to ensure affordable healthcare.
He mentioned that medical colleges are being established under the PPP model, emphasizing that the previous government did not allocate land for such institutions. The current government’s goal is to establish 100-bed hospitals in every electoral constituency. He clarified that the PPP model does not mean privatization; government assets will remain public, and services will operate under government regulations.
Through the Sanjeevani Project, digital health records are being created for every citizen. The coalition government’s aim is to provide quality healthcare to all.
