
New Delhi, June 5: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag police executed extensive narcotics raids across various hotels in the Pahalgam sub-division.
The operation targeted hotels located in the Mavura, Rafting Point, and Yanner areas. Acting on intelligence reports, police searched multiple hotel premises to ensure that tourist accommodations were not being misused for drug-related activities.
Under the supervision of the SDPO Pahalgam, six police teams participated in the operation. They conducted inspections in different hotels and monitored suspicious activities. The primary aim of this initiative is to curb drug trafficking networks and ensure a drug-free environment in the region.
Anantnag police stated that such operations will continue, with ongoing efforts to eliminate drug trade in the district.
Earlier, on June 4, police in Srinagar demolished properties worth approximately 2 crore rupees linked to a drug trafficker. According to police, a three-story residential building in the Rainawari area was destroyed, which belonged to a drug peddler.
This action was carried out by Srinagar police in collaboration with the revenue department. Authorities indicated that the campaign aims to dismantle drug-related networks and weaken their financial foundations. The demolished building was identified as belonging to Sheikh Tasadduq, a resident of Mumkhan Mohalla, Rainawari.
Police reported that multiple cases have been filed against the accused under the NDPS Act. Officials also noted that the accused’s wife is involved in a separate NDPS case registered at the Pulwama police station.
