Anand Dubey Responds to Ramachandra Guhas Remarks on Rahul Gandhis Leadership

Mumbai, May 31: Anand Dubey, spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT), has defended the leadership of the Gandhi family in response to historian Ramachandra Guha’s comments regarding Rahul Gandhi. Dubey also expressed concern over the recent attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee and the rising political violence in West Bengal.

In a recent article titled “How the Gandhi Family Contributed to Strengthening PM Modi’s Power,” Guha criticized Rahul Gandhi for failing to position Congress as an effective opposition, which he claims has aided the BJP in consolidating its political power. Guha questioned Gandhi’s political style, consistency, and administrative experience.

Dubey acknowledged his respect for Guha but emphasized the importance of understanding that history often repeats and evolves. He pointed out that the leadership of the Gandhi family has always been accepted by the public. He cited examples such as Indira Gandhi’s leadership, Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure as Prime Minister, and the widespread popularity of Sanjay Gandhi.

He noted that Rahul Gandhi has been elected multiple times as an MP, and Priyanka Gandhi has also been elected. Sonia Gandhi has served in Parliament several times. Therefore, Dubey argued that it is incorrect to claim that the public does not accept the Gandhi family’s leadership. However, he admitted that Congress needs to strengthen its political influence.

Praising Rahul Gandhi, Dubey stated that he is a good person who has spread messages of love and brotherhood through the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Rahul often mentions his mission to open a “shop of love” in a market filled with hatred.

Dubey pointed out that while some may not appreciate this sentiment, it is true that Rahul Gandhi played a crucial role in preventing the BJP from securing 240 seats. His popularity as a leader of the opposition continues to grow.

He added that just because someone has not yet become Prime Minister does not mean they lack capability. Everyone has their own time, and Rahul Gandhi may take on significant responsibilities in the future.

Discussing the BJP’s history, Dubey noted that the party was founded in 1980 but took a long time to reach power.

Additionally, he expressed concern over the attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, stating that if a Member of Parliament is not safe, it raises questions about the safety of the general public. Commenting on the situation in West Bengal, he remarked that while the BJP claimed to promote good governance, incidents of violence have emerged shortly after they came to power.
