Amit Shah to Visit Punjab on October 20 Amid Drug Crisis Concerns

Amit Shahs upcoming visit to Punjab aims to address the states drug crisis and strengthen BJPs position ahead of elections.

Punjab, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : Central Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Punjab on October 20, according to former Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu. In a post on X, Bittu welcomed Shah’s visit, emphasizing the need for strong leadership in light of Punjab’s ongoing struggle with substance abuse.

Bittu highlighted the urgency of decisive action to protect the youth and secure the future of the state. He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, claiming it lost its mandate well before its term ended.

He urged the people of Punjab to support Amit Shah, stating, “I appeal to every Punjabi to stand with Amit Shah and trust our shared mission to make Punjab drug-free forever. Let us unite to save the youth of Punjab and reclaim our future.”

Shah’s visit comes as the Election Commission of India is expected to send a team to the state in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections. It is anticipated that Shah will discuss strategies to strengthen the BJP’s foothold in Punjab during his trip.

There are also indications that Shah may visit Mansa, where anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta was recently murdered. He is expected to meet with members of Jhotta’s family. Just two days ago, Shah raised concerns about the rising threats of drug abuse, gang violence, and organized crime in Punjab, questioning the state government’s response to these issues.

In a post on X, Shah referenced troubling incidents in Dirba and Mansa, stating, “The forced suicide of a father in Dirba and the daylight murder of Parvinder Singh Jhotta in Mansa have raised serious questions about law and order in Punjab.” He noted that Jhotta’s father has made serious allegations against the AAP government and its legislators.

Additionally, Shah announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs will seek answers from the Punjab government regarding the incidents in Dirba and Mansa.
