Election Commission Refutes Claims of Multiple Voter IDs Issued in Uttar Pradesh
The Election Commission of Uttar Pradesh clarifies that four voter IDs were issued due to four separate applications, not a promotional scheme.

Lucknow, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Uttar Pradesh has dismissed claims circulating on social media that an individual received four voter IDs after submitting only two applications. The CEO’s office clarified that the individual actually submitted four applications, resulting in the issuance of four Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs).
Responding to a social media user who questioned the validity of the voter ID process, the CEO’s office advised them to verify their facts. In a post on ‘X’, they stated, “Mr. Fact-Checker, please check your own facts. There is no scheme by the Election Commission that offers ‘buy one, get one free.'”
Regarding the allegations about receiving four voter IDs for two applications, the CEO’s office firmly stated, “This claim is entirely incorrect.” They reiterated that the voter had submitted four applications.
The CEO’s office further challenged the social media user to provide reference numbers for the two applications they claimed were submitted. They assured that they would provide the reference numbers for the remaining two applications.
Additionally, the office noted that the issue of multiple IDs being issued due to the submission of several applications is not new. The Election Commission regularly conducts de-duplication processes through its ECI Net system. They are working towards a solution that will catch multiple applications at the time of submission.
The office cautioned the user against spreading misinformation about the Election Commission, urging them not to incite distrust or anger among citizens towards this constitutional body. They advised the user to thoroughly investigate the matter and either correct or remove their misleading post.
