
New Delhi, August 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with India’s disabled men’s cricket team on Sunday, celebrating their impressive performance in the ‘India-England Men’s Mixed Disability T20 Series 2026’ upon their return from England.
Amit Shah expressed his joy on the social media platform X, stating, “I was pleased to meet India’s disabled men’s cricket team today in New Delhi. This team has returned from their tour of England after participating in the ‘India-England Men’s Mixed Disability T20 Series 2026.’ Their efforts to earn respect for the country and their determination inspire the youth of India. I wished them success in their future endeavors.”
The series featured a total of seven matches between the two countries. England won the first match by 29 runs. However, India leveled the series by winning the next match by a narrow margin of 6 runs.
In the third match, India gained a 2-1 lead by defeating England by 8 runs, but England equalized by winning the following match by just 2 runs. England claimed the fifth match by 54 runs and secured an unassailable 4-2 lead by winning the next match by 18 runs.
Although India could not clinch the series by winning the seventh match, they achieved a historic victory on August 19 at Lord’s, defeating the English team by 118 runs.
Batting first, India scored 206 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to remarkable innings from Arjun Gavre (68) and Majid Magre (63). In response, England was bowled out for just 88 runs in 13.4 overs. Following this victory, Indian players celebrated by waving their jerseys from the balcony at Lord’s.
