Amir Jangoos Double Century Powers West Indies in First Test Against Sri Lanka

Antigua, June 28: The first Test match between West Indies and Sri Lanka is currently taking place at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium. The third day of the match was dominated by the Caribbean team.

West Indies declared their first innings at 626 runs after losing 9 wickets. Resuming their innings at 271/5, Jangoo and captain Roston Chase continued their excellent batting. The duo formed a record partnership of 401 runs for the sixth wicket, the highest ever for this wicket in Test cricket. Jangoo played a remarkable innings, scoring 233 runs off 373 balls, marking his first double century in just his second Test match. His innings included 19 fours and 3 sixes.

Chase also contributed significantly, facing 324 balls for his impressive 194 runs. However, he fell short of a double century, getting out to Sonal Dinusha. Alzarri Joseph added 21 runs off 20 balls, while Shermon Lewis remained unbeaten with 17 runs. On the bowling front for Sri Lanka, Milan Priyantha Rathnayake excelled with five wickets, while Sonal Dinusha and Asitha Fernando took two wickets each.

West Indies gained a substantial lead of 318 runs based on their first innings, as Sri Lanka was all out for 308 runs. By the end of the day, Sri Lanka had scored 15 runs for the loss of one wicket in their second innings. Nishan Madushka was at 2 runs and Kasun Rajitha at 4 runs. Pathum Nissanka struggled again, getting out for just 3 runs. Sri Lanka still trails by 307 runs against the Caribbean side’s lead.
