BRO Honors Bihar Bridge Corporation Officials for Vikramshila Setu Restoration

Guwahati, June 28: The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has recognized officials from the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited for their crucial role in restoring the damaged Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur district. Officials announced this on Sunday.

Under the leadership of Managing Director Jitendra Kumar, a delegation visited the headquarters of the Additional Director General Border Roads (East) in Guwahati, where Additional Director General Jitendra Prasad, VSM, honored the officials for their contributions to the successful repair of the strategic bridge.

On May 4, a section of the Vikramshila Setu, which connects North and South Bihar, collapsed, severely disrupting traffic and connectivity in the Seemanchal area.

Following a request from the Bihar government, the Ministry of Defence assigned the repair work to the BRO. The Director General of Border Roads entrusted this task to Additional Director General Jitendra Prasad, who formed a special engineering team under the leadership of Superintending Engineer (Civil) Bipin Kumar Chand. Working under the supervision of Chief Engineer (Project) Swastik Brigadier Amit Sakhare, the team launched four Bailey bridges to repair the damaged structure, allowing the bridge to reopen for traffic on June 7.

Officials stated that BRPNNL played a vital role throughout the operation by providing logistical support, facilitating technical coordination, and assisting with local administrative needs, ensuring the project was completed within a record timeframe.

During the ceremony, six officials from BRPNNL, including Managing Director Jitendra Kumar and Superintending Engineer Shashi Bhushan Singh, were honored for their contributions.

Bipin Kumar Chand informed attendees about the engineering challenges faced during the operation and the new techniques adopted to complete the restoration under difficult conditions.

Addressing the audience, Jitendra Prasad described the restoration of Vikramshila Setu as a remarkable example of inter-agency coordination, engineering excellence, and commitment to public service.

He emphasized that this successful operation showcases the strong partnership between the BRO and the Bihar government in restoring essential infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for the people.
