Dubai, June 9: The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest women’s rankings on Tuesday, showcasing New Zealand’s star Amelia Kerr reclaiming the top spot among T20 all-rounders.
Kerr has returned to the number one position just days before the T20 World Cup begins. Meanwhile, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has slipped to second place after missing the final match of a recent tri-series in Ireland.
Despite Kerr’s ascent, the competition for the top all-rounder position remains fierce, with only a five-point lead separating her from Matthews. Both captains will vie for their rankings starting June 12 at the T20 World Cup. In the batting rankings, Australia’s Georgia Voll and Beth Mooney continue to hold the top two spots.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur has improved her ranking by one position. After scoring an unbeaten half-century in the decisive match against England in Taunton, Kaur has made her way back into the top 10. England’s players, who performed exceptionally in the series, also saw benefits. Alice Capsey, who scored a remarkable 82 runs in the final match and was named ‘Player of the Match’, climbed 13 spots to rank 30th among T20 batters.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana rose two places to 18th in the batting rankings, while England’s seasoned player Heather Knight moved up four spots to 21st.
England’s spinner Linsey Smith will enter as the number one T20I bowler, maintaining a slight edge over Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal.
In the top 10, two English players, Lauren Bell and Charlie Dean, have gained ground. Bell climbed one spot to joint second, while Dean reached fourth. South Africa’s spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba also moved up two places to fifth.
While Kerr and Matthews dominate the T20 all-rounder rankings, Scotland’s captain Kathryn Bryce has also made significant progress. Following her impressive performances in the recent tri-series against Bangladesh and the Netherlands, she climbed nine spots to 17th.
