Mumbai, August 6: Imran Hashmi’s much-anticipated film ‘Awarapan 2’ is set to release soon. This sequel follows the cult classic ‘Awarapan,’ which debuted in 2007. In this film, Imran Hashmi reprises his role as Shivam Pandit. The song ‘Ye Awarapan’ has already been released, and music composer Amal Malik has shared insights into his creative process behind the track.
Amal Malik expressed that the title of the song emerged with such depth that he aimed to blend poetry with a light musical texture. He stated, “When the words are so profound, they cannot be conveyed through a single medium. ‘Ye Awarapan’ encapsulates joy, emotion, and self-discovery.”
He further elaborated that the song feels like sharing a personal story with a friend. The lyrics evoke a sense of intimacy, reminiscent of confiding in a close companion about the journey of life.
Malik emphasized that significant themes are often conveyed in simple yet nuanced ways. He remarked, “When the melody of a song is so straightforward and touching, I prefer not to overwhelm it with heavy arrangements. Clearly, it balances rock with cinematic music. Everything has to be well-balanced, and given its Bollywood essence, this song carries a distinct Bollywood tone. It’s quite cinematic, but we haven’t attempted to show off. There’s no effort to display anything extravagant.”
On the sound front, he noted that the guitar and drums are all original. ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne 2’ is also a rock-based album, featuring various textures in its songs. However, he believes it is crucial to allow the melody to breathe while keeping the lyrics straightforward and heartfelt. “If you want these songs to resonate with people, they should be pure and uncomplicated,” he added.
The song ‘Ye Awarapan’ is sung by Arijit Singh, composed by Amal Malik, with lyrics penned by Rashmi-Virag. It is celebrated for its profound emotions and simplicity.
