Mumbai, August 8: Music composer Amal Malik, known for his work on the upcoming film ‘Awarapan 2,’ shared insights on how some songs take years to become hits. During a promotional event in Mumbai’s BKC area, he reflected on the challenges faced by many of his tracks that initially struggled to gain traction.
He stated, “I have numerous songs that have faced a tough journey. I believe every song has its own timeline. Luck plays a role too. It depends on the mood, energy, and the collaborators involved. When everyone’s energy is positive, the songs turn out great. Sometimes, you create an excellent track, but its success also relies on the film and its lead actor. In our country, music is a visual medium. People first watch the song and then listen to it. Therefore, the face it is filmed on and its marketing strategy are crucial.”
Malik emphasized that in today’s landscape, merely producing good music is not enough. Factors such as marketing strength, public perception, and proper positioning are essential.
He remarked, “It’s no longer the case that a great song will be instantly recognized. It might gain attention slowly. However, if you want immediate success, like achieving 100 million views overnight, that’s not feasible for every song. Some tracks trend on reels, others on streaming platforms, and some defy all odds to become hits, but proper positioning is necessary.”
He added, “Audiences have an overwhelming amount of content to choose from. You can only stand out by being genuine. That’s what I strive for. Sometimes songs succeed, and sometimes they don’t. When they don’t, I feel down for a couple of days, wondering what went wrong. But overthinking won’t help; I just move on to working on the next song.”
