Kollam, March 15: In a shocking incident in Kerala’s Kollam, all suspects involved in the brutal daylight murder of gang leader Aluva Atul have been arrested. The police apprehended four individuals directly linked to the crime, which occurred in the middle of the road in Karunagappally.
According to the Kollam City Police, all eight suspects have been taken into custody. After their arrest by the Kottayam police, they were handed over to the Kollam police for further investigation. The police commissioner of Kollam stated that the inquiry is just beginning.
Reports indicate that Atul was out on bail in a previous murder case involving a gym owner named Santosh. He was returning to the police station after signing evidence related to the attack when another vehicle began tailing his car. Atul’s vehicle lost control and rolled down an embankment on an under-construction road. Subsequently, a gang of four armed men emerged from their vehicle and attacked Atul and his associate, Kuku, also known as Manu. The assailants brutally murdered Atul before fleeing the scene. Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the attackers. Manu, who was with Atul, also sustained injuries during the attack.
Authorities believe that the motive behind this heinous act stems from a rivalry between the Katathur and Vayanakam gangs. The CCTV footage reveals the four attackers exiting an Innova vehicle, armed with sharp weapons. They dragged Atul out of his car and assaulted him multiple times in the middle of a busy highway before escaping.
Notably, Santosh was brutally murdered in his home on March 27, 2025. Allegations suggest that Atul’s gang cut off the electricity to Santosh’s house and threw explosives to instill fear before killing him in front of his mother.
Recently, Atul’s release on bail had sparked outrage among Santosh’s supporters. Police suspect that the attackers had been monitoring Atul’s activities to plan this assault.
