Lucknow, August 14 (Kiran News) – In view of a heavy rain alert, all schools up to Class 12 in both urban and rural areas of Lucknow have been closed for the day. The order was issued by the District Magistrate (DM) of Lucknow on Thursday.

According to the Meteorological Department, the city is likely to experience a cloudy sky throughout the day with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in the afternoon. A red alert for heavy rain has been issued for Lucknow.
The DM’s order stated that, considering the deteriorating weather and forecast of heavy rainfall, all schools from pre-primary to Class 12 of all boards will remain closed on August 14. The order also directed strict compliance.
The weather office at Amausi reported that clouds had covered the city since Wednesday, and by night, heavy rain lashed most areas, including Indira Nagar, Gomti Nagar, and Aliganj, causing waterlogging. Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 33.4°C, 0.2 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 28.2°C, 2.4 degrees above normal.
Power Outages in Several Areas
Heavy rain also triggered power cuts in several parts of Lucknow, including Kabir Nagar, Ahibaranpur, and areas under the New Campus substation. Around five lakh residents were left without electricity late into the night. Officials faced difficulties locating faults due to continuous rainfall. Kabir Nagar substation went down at 9 pm, affecting Panditkheda, Hanskheda, Gokul State, Kanshiram Colony, Shubham City, Suncity, Awas Vikas Colony, and other localities. Consumers complained of unresponsive helplines and delayed restoration work.
