Lucknow, August 2: Ahead of the four-day monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly starting Monday, an all-party meeting was held on Sunday to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of the house. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana urged all political parties to engage in meaningful discussions on public interest issues while adhering to democratic decorum. All parties assured their full cooperation in the functioning of the assembly.
While presiding over the all-party meeting at the Vidhan Bhawan, Speaker Mahana emphasized that the assembly is the highest platform for democratic discourse, and maintaining its dignity is a shared responsibility of both the ruling and opposition parties. He stated that the proceedings of the house would be effective only if all members adhere to the rules and use restrained, respectful, and dignified language.
Mahana noted that for the past four and a half years, the assembly’s proceedings have been successfully conducted with the cooperation of all parties. He expressed confidence that this time too, both the ruling and opposition parties would discuss public interest issues in a positive atmosphere and promote healthy parliamentary traditions. He mentioned that several important legislative and financial matters would be addressed during the four-day session. Notably, for the first time in the assembly’s history, a full rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ will also take place.
During the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna stated that the smooth functioning of the house is only possible through mutual cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties. He welcomed the assurance from all parties to conduct the house peacefully and orderly, stating that this would strengthen democratic traditions.
Leaders from various parties participated in the all-party meeting, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, Ram Niwas Verma from the Apna Dal (Sonelal), Congress’s Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, Rajpal Singh Balian from the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Om Prakash Rajbhar from the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, Ramesh Singh from the Nishad Party, and Raghu Raj Pratap Singh ‘Raja Bhaiya’ from the Janata Party Democratic.
All parties assured the Speaker of their complete support for the dignified and smooth functioning of the house. Prior to this, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee was also held, where the legislative and financial agenda for the four-day session was discussed in detail.
