Mumbai, April 2: A domestic dispute in the Jogeshwari area of Mumbai escalated into violence when a woman attacked her husband with a kitchen knife while under the influence of alcohol. The incident left the husband injured, prompting the Amboli police to file a case against the accused wife and initiate an investigation.
According to police reports, the complainant, Mohammad Rafiq Abdul Qureshi, 39, a plumber, resides in Yadav Nagar, Jogeshwari West, with his wife, Saba Qureshi, 30. The altercation occurred when Rafiq returned home exhausted from work and found his wife asleep in a drunken state.
Rafiq confronted Saba about her daily drinking habit, which led to a heated argument. Saba became aggressive, hurling insults at him. When Rafiq attempted to calm her down, she grew even more furious, ordering him to leave the house and threatening him.
As tensions escalated, Saba grabbed a vegetable-cutting knife from the kitchen and attacked Rafiq. He sustained deep cuts on his right leg and left arm, with the injury to his leg being particularly severe. Rafiq, bleeding and in considerable pain, managed to reach Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari East for treatment. Medical staff provided initial care and necessary medication.
After receiving treatment, Rafiq went directly to the Amboli police station to file a formal complaint regarding the incident. Based on his report, the police took immediate action. Charges were filed against Saba Qureshi under various sections, including Section 118(1) for causing injury with a dangerous weapon, Section 351(2) for criminal threats, and Section 352 for using abusive language that disturbs the peace.
The police are currently searching for Saba and collecting evidence from the scene. They are also interviewing neighbors. Authorities have assured that the investigation will be conducted fairly, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused and proceed with legal action.
Rafiq expressed his frustration over his wife’s drinking habits, stating that he never anticipated such violence. He now hopes for safety and justice in this troubling situation.
