Kolkata, April 19: The 28th match of IPL 2026 features the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing off against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) this Sunday. Legendary Australian cricketer Alan Border graced Eden Gardens to kick off the match by ringing the bell.

Accompanying Border were prominent figures from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), including President Sourav Ganguly, Secretary Bablu Kole, Joint Secretary Madan Mohan Ghosh, and Treasurer Sanjay Das. Border, who captained the Australian team to victory in the 1987 ICC Cricket World Cup, was honored with a special memento by CAB officials.

In the match, RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bat first. The Royals scored 155 runs, losing 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi showcased an impressive performance, scoring 46 runs off 28 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 39 runs from 29 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.

However, Dhruv Jurel struggled with the bat, managing only 5 runs off 7 balls. Captain Riyan Parag returned to the pavilion after scoring just 12 runs off 14 balls. Shimron Hetmyer faced difficulties as well, scoring 15 runs off 18 balls. Donovan Ferreira added 7 runs before getting out, while Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 9 runs by Kartik Tyagi. Jofra Archer chipped in with 8 runs.

For KKR, Kartik Tyagi excelled with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 22 runs in 4 overs. Varun Chakravarthy also shone, claiming 3 wickets while conceding only 14 runs in his 4 overs. Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets for 26 runs. KKR maintained their playing eleven without any changes, while RR made two adjustments, bringing back Hetmyer and Brijesh Sharma to the lineup.
